Ken Hunt paints with meticulous observance - his bird paintings show mastery of many facets in painting from drawing to coloration and an acute sense of lifelike representation which almost suggests the character of the subjects he paints.
His inspiration is nature and he states - he hopes to"inspire and uplift".. to capture a moment in time is such a way as to bring a lasting tangible feeling of appreciation for the beauty of nature, specifically, that which inspired the artwork to begin with." With his wife he is involved in Bird Rescue which has clearly influenced his subject matter to the extent they have hand- reared many species including native birds. In his youth he was employed for Parks & Reserves on Mt Taranaki which gave him a love for the rugged outdoors and inspired a number of Mountain portraits. He took instruction is his early career from noted Artists one with Royal Commissions and paints with the finest Artist quality Oils on Canvas or Board - with De-Luxe quality painted on Belgian Linen. "I have also done some film and TV work, the most significant being four portrait paintings for the first instalment of Lord of the Rings. To my profound astonishment images of these paintings were displayed floor to ceiling on the stage at the Academy Awards as Sir Peter Jackson walked on stage to be presented with his Oscar. I also have some work in the upcoming Hobbit movie."...Ken Hunt |
