With his wife he is involved in Bird Rescue
which has clearly influenced his subject matter to the extent they have hand- reared many species including native birds.
In his youth he was employed for Parks & Reserves on Mt Taranaki which gave him a love for the rugged outdoors and inspired a number of Mountain portraits.
He took instruction is his early career from noted Artists one with Royal Commissions and paints with the finest Artist quality Oils on Canvas or Board - with De-Luxe quality painted on Belgian Linen.
"I have also done some film and TV work, the most significant being four portrait paintings for the first instalment of Lord of the Rings. To my profound astonishment images of these paintings were displayed floor to ceiling on the stage at the Academy Awards as Sir Peter Jackson walked on stage to be presented with his Oscar. I also have some work in the upcoming Hobbit movie."...Ken Hunt
